Rafael Chavez

Rafael (he/him) is a second-year graduate student at SDSU, studying to receive his MPH in Epidemiology. He is currently working as a research assistant in Dr. Calzo’s Action Research on Community Health Equity and Stigma (ARCHES) lab. His current projects include sanitation justice/populations experiencing homelessness, Institute of Educational Sciences (IES) among LGBTQ+ youth, and smoking behaviors among LGBTQ+ youth. Prior to joining the ARCHES lab, Rafael earned his bachelor’s degree in Community Health From CSU Fresno and worked as a health promotion facilitator in communities facing health disparities.
