WaSH Photo Exhibit, Spring 2025

Access to bathrooms is a basic human right and public health necessity, yet many, especially unhoused individuals, lack reliable access to safe, clean, and free facilities, which can negatively impact health and even lead to criminalization. Over the past five years, the Project for Sanitation Justice at San Diego State University—led by Dr. Megan Welsh Carroll in collaboration with Dr. Jerel Calzo and Dr. Jennifer Felner—has partnered with students in PH 496 and CJ 543 to research and document water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) resources, including a photovoice assessment of campus facilities that highlighted both strengths and gaps for diverse student populations. Their findings, which underscore the importance of equitable WaSH access, are being shared in a public display at the SDSU University Library from April 22-28, 2025.
